iPhone 6 concept by Ciccaresedesign (photos and video)

As we take our first steps into 2013, some of us are already trying to imagine what will the new iPhone look like. Federico Ciccarese is the first designer who tried to envision the next-generation iPhone. He suprised us with another one of his stunning iPhone concepts, this time a completely redesigned version of Apple’s smartphone with the new iPod Nano shape. See the photos and video below.

This concept appears to be made from Liquidmetal, a space-age material Apple is known to be interested in using for its products. Federico removed the physical Home button and used the all-display design, which looks better than Apple's current design with too much space above and below the display. At the bottom of device you can see the new Lightning connector, speakers and a phone jack, according to which you can see how thin this device should be. The buttons are seamlessly-integrated on the sides.

Furthermore, Federico believes that Apple will finally blend iOS and OS X into a perfect fusion of mobile and desktop, so he is showing how it may look like on photos and video. This is only a concept and a real iPhone 6 could be a complete departure from the current design, but this concept is really beautiful and I hope that Apple will finally change it's always the same design.

iPad's little brother?

Apple's component suppliers in Asia confirmed that they've been told to prepare for mass production of the new tablet computer in september. It's screen will be smaller than 8 inches, while iPad's screen measuers 9.7 inches. According to Wall Street Journal's report in February, Apple was testing such a device but it was unknown when they will start with mass production.

Furthermore, one person said that Apple is working with LG Display Co from South Korea and AU Optronics Co from Taiwan. Apple spokeswoman from California rejected to say anything about iPad's little brother.

Smaller tablet could help Apple to maintain its dominance in a market which keeps getting more and more crowded, according to analysts. The biggest competitors are Samsung, Amazon, Microsoft and now Google with his new Nexus 7 tablet. It's expected that tablet sales will surge to 126.6 million units this year.

Android app: Viber - free calls and SMS

If you like to text a lot or call your friends and talk with them for hours, you should give this free application a try. Viber lets you send messages and make calls using internet to any person who has this app instaled. Read more to find out why this app is much better than skype an other similar apps.

It's advantage over other applications such as skype is that you don't have to know the username of person you want to call or send SMS, nor add this person to contacts. Viber uses your phone number. Even more, when you install this app, all contacts from your phonebook who use Viber will automatically appear in your phonebook. When a contact from your phonebook join Viber, you will get a notification that he/she is now using Viber and he/she will appear in your Viber contacts list. Viber is always running in background, so when you get a message, you get notification (as normal SMS messages) and when somebody calls you, your phone rings. So, it's working as normal phones, only difference is that it uses internet.

Another advantage is that its voice calls have a much better quality compared to ordinary calls. But I wouldn't recommend voice calls over mobile networks (3G, Edge etc.), unless you have a larger data packet, while you can send lots of text messages even with smaller data packages.

Skype video calling for Android devices

Skype has introduced a new option for Android users for making free one-to-one video calls between Android phones, iPhones, Mac computers, Microsoft Windows PCs and televisions.. Currently supported models are HTC Desire 5, Sony Ericsson Xperia neo, Sony Ericsson Xperia pro and the Google Nexus S, but they announced that it will soon be many more. To get that option, you only need to upgrade your Skype application.

We are committed to bringing Skype video calling to as many platforms as possible, Skype's product and marketing chief Neil Stevens said in a statement.

To remind you, Skype is being bought by Microsoft, so this improvement will help Microsoft to promote it's Windows Phone smartphone platform, which it is merging with Nokia's in an effort to become competitive with Android and Apple.
